The iMac's ultra-thin 11.5mm chassis means every cubic millimetre of space is accounted for. Opening the machine requires removing the magnetic display glass, carefully separating the panel from the housing, and working in a space with very little margin. This is not a repair for an inexperienced technician.
The Apple Silicon chip itself — M1, M3, or M4 — integrates the CPU, GPU, Neural Engine, and unified memory onto a single SoC. There are no upgradeable components. If the logic board is faulty, the only options are board-level repair or replacement. Most shops will point you toward a costly Apple depot service.
